How to approach the UX design

If we ask, let’s say a hundred designers, one by one, how they approach the UX design, we will most likely get a hundred different answers. Because each designer has a different view on what these words mean. We can say that UX design is not an exact science.

There is a lot of psychology behind every element of the user experience. If we know all the elements, we can use them in practice. They will positively affect not only the creation of the specific user interface, but also the anticipated user behavior. You can easily improve the website’s results through design.

What are the parameters for creating the right UX design

Focus on the real users - the user, for whom the intuitive and user friendly environment will be intended for, must be the focus when developing a UX design. That’s why the designer should draw from a real analysis of an audience, i.e. a real survey of the requirements and characteristics of the website users.

Optimized and trendy - website UX design must always be able to accommodate to the newest user requirements, new technologies and trends. Small adjustments are made constantly throughout the entire lifespan of the website. At the same time it is necessary to be uniform.

That means to be in tune with the promotional materials and the company logo in a way that you’re continuously forming the corporate identity.

The UX designer is dedicated to the preparation of the complete process. He is not a part of the website or app development itself. His work is crucial to the (un)success of the entire project. It is a key role and shouldn’t be underestimated.

The reason why you should want a quality UX design is mainly to improve your business, attract customers and support conversion. The so-called personas and created after obtaining information about the competition and an audience analysis. Understand them as model customers.

There should be several personas with typically specified age, sex, name, occupation, abilities and skills. The next step is to create a basic structure for the website. The UX design characterizes the continuity of individual parts and the content hierarchy.

Example principle of a successful application of the theory in practice

The key to a successful website is to use the behavioral design in practice. First of all, it is important to identify the thought processes and triggers of the website user. By following their path on the website we can focus on the moments that can be influenced.

For example, we can track clicks when the customer put something in the cart but didn’t place the order in the end. In this moment we can encourage them to finish the purchase with a pop-up window with an immediate discount and an attractive message such as:

“We’ve noticed you are interested in our product. Get a 10% off of your first purchase as a bonus.”

such action is unusual for the customer and may evoke an emotional reaction which will positively influence them in the future. If the designer cleverly inserts multiple trigger points into the website, he can easily create a state of flow that ensures regular conversion.

Before the designer can apply these emotional triggers on the website, he must first understand the user who is visiting it. What influences their decisions, and catch the moment when to prompt them to make a purchase or another action.

By evaluation to success, step by step

There are many ways to reach customer conversion. Behavioral analysis of the UX data can help us with this.

Google Analytics conversion data - they determine what is key for your company. Keywords are a good source. They help to define what search terms bring the visitors to the website. Here we mainly focus on the bounce rate and the session duration. Search terms that attract visitors but don’t turn them into customers are important. Here we identify the opportunity for optimization.

⏏️ Bounce rate - shows how well the page performs in terms of its content and how it satisfies the visitors needs. Immediate bounce can occur when the visitor reached the website through a keyword, but didn’t find his primary interest. Here you can track how to properly direct visitors to the right content.

Visits by browser - user interface should work well in all browsers. That’s why we focus on regular web optimization. When we know the behavior of the users coming through the specific browser to your website, then we optimize.

There are many similar elements you can analyze.

The choice of the most important depends on a number of factors. Including analysis, analyzed website, the experience your users have with the website interaction etc. If we don’t know all the key parameters, we’re forced to guess why the customers behave the way they do. A better way is to use a quality UX research that will accurately reveal a user behavior pattern.
